Swarthmore athletes are one step closer to being goaded on at their games by a costumed man or woman, as the Mascot Committee has officially announced the two winners of its mascot design contest.
In the following weeks, the designs from Summer Spicer ‘07 (top) and Laura Post ’09 (bottom) will have elements drawn from them to be integrated into a costume for the college’s future athletic mascot, the Phoenix.
“These two selections have a great deal of detail and color,” Assistant Director of Athletics Karen Borbee said, “They will be a great base to start the design of the mascot.”
“We are in the early stages of communication with a potential vendor,” Borbee said. Information as to how the two designs are to be integrated will be forthcoming as communications progress.
